Sam Tabar is an attorney based in New York. He is also a financial strategist. He began his career working for the law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slater, Meagher & Flom. He later changed his focus to capital strategy and business. He worked for SPARX Group Co./PMA Investment Advisors and Bank of America Merrill Lynch during this time. He later joined the Schulte Roth & Zabel firm. At that firm, he helped hedge funds with formation and compliance.
After graduating from Oxford University, Tabar attended Columbia Law School. He graduated in 2001. From the beginning of his career, he has specialized in hedge funds. He managed investor relations at PMA Investment Advisors for a $2 billion hedge fund. He also cultivated a list for the company of over 2,000 qualified potential investors. He also helped the firm raise assets of over $1.2 billion.
At Merrill Lynch, he connected hedge fund managers with institutions that were interested in investing. These institutions included foundations, pensions, large family offices and endowments. The list of institutional investors he put together for the company includes 1,250 names. He also provided Merrill Lynch’s hedge fund clients with legal counsel.
Sam Tabar has also invested as a private venture capitalist. He has helped fund the companies SheThinx and Tribute. In 2015, he was named COO of the firm FullCycle Energy Fund. In addition to his business accomplishments, he is also fluent in French and has a functional knowledge of the Japanese language.
